Cat. 6 Registration Review Findings

At HG, our consultants have completed a few category 6 re-registration reviews and mock audits. Here’s the uncomfortable truth these early audits are exposing:
Most providers aren’t failing compliance.
They’re failing governance.
Non‑conformance isn’t showing up at the edges.
It’s appearing across all seven Quality Standards.
Not because people aren’t trying.
But because governance is under‑developed.
Systems don’t connect.
And accountability collapses at Board level.
This is the inflection point.
Treat the Aged Care Act as a compliance refresh and expect registration risk and enforcement scrutiny.
Treat it as a hard reset of governance, workforce assurance, and risk and you’ll move ahead. Fast.
A brutal question for Boards in 2026 is not:
“Do we have the right documents and committees?”
The real question is:
“Can we evidence (today) that our systems actually work together to identify risk, protect older people, and drive continuous improvement?”
Regulators won’t accept reassurance.
They will demand proof.
Our provocation at Health Generation:
If your Board cannot clearly answer that question, registration risk already exists you just haven’t seen it surface yet.
We’re working with providers to stress‑test governance, workforce assurance, and risk systemsbeforethe Commission does.
Because by the time findings arrive, it’s already too late.
