Overlapping paperwork, reports, and computer screens slightly misaligned on a desk, with shallow depth of field and natural shadows, conveying a fragmented and disjointed workflow in a documentary-style setting.

Food is never just food.

Under the Strengthened Quality Standards, Standard 1 (The Person) and Standard 6 (Food and Nutrition) are inseparable — and mealtimes prove it every day.

  • Choice matters

  • Dignity matters

  • Preference, culture, independence and safety matter

You can’t meet Standard 6 if meals are task‑focused, rushed, or one‑size‑fits‑all.

And you can’t meet Standard 1 if people don’t feel heard, respected, or supported at the table.

When mealtimes go wrong, both standards fail.

When they’re done well, nutrition improves, dignity is protected, and quality of life shines.

From choice on the menu to dignity at the table, every mealtime proves whether care is truly person‑centred.

Does your Continuous Improvement Plan feature the actions from an audit at the intersection of both these standards?
